History
The Zodiac 9 Crew is an intricate web of promoters, friends, DJ's, dancers, photographers, and just some unique people in general! At the center of this web is the founder of Zodiac 9, TJ, also known as Phoenix within the local community. And just as the Phoenix rises from the ashes of it's former self, Zodiac 9 has risen from it's own past to become the rising star that it has become today.
It all started back in 1996 in upstate New York as TJ entered High School and dreamed of one day being a video game designer and programmer. His passion for intricate storylines, detailed graphics, epic music, and the desire to bring happiness and fun to the lives of those around him drove him to learn all he could about the industry. Working as a non-payed designer and programmer for an independent game studio, he learned everything he could before starting his own small studio in 1998 and named it Zodiac 9 Entertainment.
Moving to California to attend college for graphic design, he stumbled along the wonderful, crazy world of EDM parties called "Raves". This display of lights and sound blew him away with the energy and level of detail put into the production of the event. Still being young and just wanting to have fun, TJ winded up not finishing college and headed back to New York, burned out with too much partying and no idea on how to further his goals. He winded up enlisting in the Army in 2001 with the goal of becoming a special Operations Army Ranger. After a year of grueling work including two broken feet and too many stories to list here, he succeeded in getting the coveted Ranger Scroll and was stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA in 2002.
After 4 years of service, TJ finished his enlistment and stayed in the area to further his former dream of becoming a video game designer. Using his savings and the money he started earning while working at a local brewery, he formed a team of programmers and designers that spanned the globe through online teamwork. After about a year into development of a major title project, unfortunately the project failed and Zodiac 9 Entertainment was once again put on the shelf for the moment.
In the winter of 2008 this all changed. Having spent the past 3 years building friendships and relationships in the Seattle EDM scene, TJ teamed up with another notable promoter to put together a small, yet successful event called Hometown Heroes. Not wanting to go through the hassle of creating yet another company name, Zodiac 9 was taken off the shelf, brushed off, and was given new life in the form of an EDM promotion company. The company then went on to host consecutively succesful shows, each one bigger and better than the last. And this is where we stand today, on the verge of a new day, burning with the desire to expand and create a new and exciting experience for our friends and scene!
All with the help of our space alien masters who control our every step!
*Note* Some details have been left out to protect the innocent and guilty alike and this was intentional. This is a small personal history of myself and how my company came to be where it is today. There are many more people involved in the creation and steps taken to help me and I give them thanks with all my heart for the help they've given. ~ TJ ***
